Watch the Step-by-Step Process:
Let’s Make a Haunted House!
Step 1: Trim the paper rolls to size.
For best results, cut the paper rolls into 4 different sizes.
Step 2: Wrap black paper around each of the paper rolls.
Cut a strip of black paper to match the size of each paper roll and wrap, securing the ends with glue.
Before building the haunted house, ask your Arty Crafty Kids to order the paper rolls by size – a lovely way to incorporate some simple math into craft.
Step 3: Glue the paper rolls together to form the Haunted House.
Apply a spread of glue (from bottom to top) to the largest paper roll and connect to to the second largest.
Step 4: Arrange the paper rolls.
Next, glue the two shortest paper rolls in front of the two longest paper rolls. This will form the basic shape of the haunted house.
Step 5: Trace and cut out the yellow window shapes.
Trace four or five window shapes onto yellow paper.
Cut out the windows and use a black marker pen to draw a cross on each to create window panes.
Step 6: Trace and cut out the brown door.
Cut out and trace the door shape onto brown paper.
Step 7: Affix the windows and door to the paper rolls.
Glue the windows and doors onto the haunted house structure. Your Arty Crafty Kids may wish to double up on the windows on the taller paper rolls.
Step 8: Trace the paper cone shape 4 times.
Trace the paper cone shape onto colored paper – they can be the same color or four different colors.
Step 9: Cut out the ghost and pumpkin shapes and draw a face on each.
Step 10: Glue the ghosts and pumpkins to the haunted house craft.
The characters can be glued to any part of the haunted house.
Step 11: Create four cones.
Apply a spread of glue to one edge of the paper, wrap the edges around to join and form a cone.
Step 12: Place a cone onto each paper roll opening.
Simply place the cones to the top of each paper roll to complete the roof.
As a fun optional extra, add a sheet of paper to the bottom of the haunted house and then fill the cones with candy treats!
