Every Christmas tree needs an angel ornament. Ideally one that’s recycled, homemade and created by kids! This lovely singing Toilet Paper Roll Angel Christmas Ornament will look glorious hanging from the tree and will be an absolute joy to make.
How to Make a Paper Toilet Roll Angel Christmas Ornament
With a little help, this is an easy Christmas craft to try with preschoolers and children in early years education. Older children will enjoy the challenge of making their angel ornaments independently.
Elements of the angel craft can be adapted to suit the age and number of children you’re crafting with (i.e. a group or classroom setting). For example, children may enjoy replacing the paper plate wings with paper handprints OR a doily.
What you need to make Paper Toilet Roll Angel:
Toilet Paper Roll
Construction Paper
Small Paper Plate 6″
Scissors
Glue
Yellow Pipe Cleaner
Marker Pens
Glitter (degradable )
Jingle Bells
Curling Ribbon
Let’s Make a Christmas Angel!
Wrap the Paper Roll in White Paper
Step 1: Cut a piece of white paper a little taller than the paper roll.
Step 2: Apply glue to one edge of the paper. Place the paper roll on top of the glue area and wrap the paper roll. Secure the other end with glue.
Add a Second Strip of Paper
Step 3: Cut a strip of flesh coloured paper for the face (1.5″ x 8.5″). Apply glue to one edge of the paper. Place the paper roll on top of the glue area and wrap the strip around the top of the paper roll. Secure the other end with glue.
Draw an Angel Face
Step 4: Draw a singing angel face with marker pens.
Cut a Paper Plate in Half
Step 6: Cut a paper plate in half.
Using one half of the paper plate, decorate with glitter, sequins or crayons.
Leave the paper plate to dry.
Let’s Add Some Hair
Step 7: Cut strips of curling ribbon and glue to the inside of the top of the paper roll.
And a Halo
Step 8: Create a halo out of a pipe cleaner. Glue “tail” of the circle to the inside of the paper roll.
Make Some Holes
Step 9: Add a strip of golden ribbon between the face and body.
Step 10: Hole punch holes in the bottom of the paper roll.
Add Decorative String and Jingle Bells
Step 11: Tie bells to the end of ribbon and attach the ribbons to the punched holes.
Attach the Paper Plate Wing to Complete the
Toilet Paper Roll Angel Christmas Ornament
Step 12: Glue the decorated paper plate to the back of the paper roll.
Step 13: Add a final hole punch to the back of the paper roll and tie a ribbon to hang the ornament.
