Sharing is caring!
This tissue paper flower craft is perfect for preschoolers – a cute springtime project that’s both fun and easy to make, while also honing essential fine motor skills!
Complete with flower templates featuring three appealing designs with bold outlines to help your little ones navigate the flowery shapes.
The process of cutting, scrunching and sticking the tissue paper onto their chosen flower will give your preschoolers an amazing fine motor work out; helping to strengthen hand muscles and refine hand-eye coordination.
The tissue paper also adds a wonderful texture to the flowers and introduces Arty Crafty Kids to simple 3D effects.
Another way to craft flowers with tissue paper would be to use paper plates as the canvas, as we have done here.
Tissue paper balls are also great for making blossom trees and flattened tissue paper can produce a lovely stained glass effect when layered ( check out our paper sunflower!).

Step-by-Step for Crafting Flowers with Tissue Paper
Step 1: Cut the tissue paper into smaller pieces.
Prepare the tissue paper by cutting it up into squares or rectangles.
Step 2: Scrunch the tissue paper into balls.
The balls can be large or small, loosely or tightly scrunched – any variation will produce lovely results!
Step 3: Stick the tissue paper balls onto the flower template.
Apply a generous spread of glue onto a flower segment and begin sticking the tissue paper balls.
We recommend starting with the center (the pistil which is generally yellow in color and carries the pollen).
Next, fill the flower’s petals with tissue paper balls.
Continuing with the stem and leaves.
Once the flower is bursting with colorful tissue paper balls, the craft is complete!
Tissue Paper Poppy Flower
The poppy template not only features a lovely design suitable for spring and summer but also serves as a perfect choice for Remembrance Day.
Tissue Paper Yellow Flower
This variation showcases a sunny yellow flower reminiscent of buttercups and dandelions, complemented by a colored in background.
Arty Crafty Kids can opt to paint the background or fill it with blue tissue paper balls, evoking the beauty of a clear blue sky.
