Let’s Make a Paper Plate Black Cat!
Step 1: Paint a Paper Plate Black
To create a black cat, paint the center of the paper plate black.
Of course, the cat doesn’t have to be black and can be any combination of colors!
Step 2: Fold the Paper Plate in Half
Fold the paper plate in half, pressing down firmly along the newly formed crease.
Step 3: Cut Off the Rim of the Paper Plate
Carefully remove the rim of the paper plate.
Step 4: Decorate the Cat Template
Color in the cat template with a favorite medium.
Once colored, carefully cut out the elements.
Step 5: Assemble the Cat’s Head
Glue the eyes and nose to the cat’s head.
Use a white marker/ acrylic pen to draw a mouth and whiskers.
Step 6: Complete the Cat’s Head with a Pair of Ears
Assemble the ears and glue to the back of the cat’s head.
Step 7: Add Detail to the Cat’s Paws
Use a white marker pen to draw claws onto each paw.
Step 8: Affix the Cat’s Head and Paws to the Paper Plate
Glue the cat’s head to one of the paper plate tips and then two legs just below; one on the inside of the first fold the second leg glued to the back fold.
Step 9: Affix the Cat’s Tail
Next, glue the back legs to the other end of the paper plate and then the tail just above along the paper plate fold.
The Rocking Paper Plate Black Cat Craft is Complete
With all the pieces assembled, the legs may need a little adjustment to ensure they do not obstruct the rocking motion.
Once your Arty Crafty Kids are satisfied with where the cat pieces are placed, it’s playtime!
The black cat will now rock back and forth as if it’s playfully scuttling along the floor.
I hope your Arty Crafty Kids have a wonderful creative time making their rocking black cats! As always, we love to Arty Crafty Kids’ creativity in action and if you happen to share their completed makes on social media, please do give us a tag or/and use the #artycraftykids – happy crafting!
