Printable Rocket Ship for Kids: Tutorial
Step 1: Download the Rocket Ship Printable from the Arty Crafty Kids Club.

Step 2: Create a starry backdrop for the rocket ship.
Here, we’ve used one of our favourite techniques – Splat Painting!
Splat painting doesn’t have to be messy, it can be controlled by brushing a flat edged object (like a glue stick or blunt plastic knife) against a paint filled brush.
Keep the brush low and gently scrape the flat edged object against the brush in an upwards motion, this will ensure the splats spread across the paper.
Step 3: Continue splatter painting until your Arty Crafty Kids are satisfied with their starry backdrop.
Try adding a second, third or even fourth colour to create a galaxy effect.
Set the painting aside and leave it to dry.
Step 4: The template includes shapes with dotted lines. As an extension to the activity, ask your Arty Crafty Kids to join the dots and then identify and count the shapes.
Before moving onto the next step, Arty Crafty Kids are presented with two options:
- Join the dots and simply colour in shapes.
- Cut out and trace the shapes onto coloured paper.
Step 5: Cut out the individual shapes.
Step 5: If your Arty Crafty Kids decided to proceed with option 2, trace around the shapes with a pencil. Alternatively, move forward a step and begin assembling the rocket ship!
Step 6: Using the starry backdrop, begin assembling the rocket ship and secure the shapes with a glue stick.
Optional Extra – Add a few paper flames with any left over scrap paper.
