Watch how the Ladybug Finger Puppet is made!
Step 1: Use a favorite medium to color in the ladybug template.
The ladybug template is an open invitation for children to use their imaginations to creatively color in the pieces that make up the ladybug.
Our featured ladybugs have been colored with water color pens, which are a fantastic coloring medium for children – they’re quick and easy to use (with great pigmentation) which doesn’t cause little hands to ache.
Similar effects can be created with crayons, marker pens, pastels and watercolor paint from a palette.
Step 2: Cut out the ladybug template elements.
Step 3: Affix the ladybug’s 6 legs.
The two short legs should be glued to the ladybug’s second segment, while the hind legs are affixed to the ladybug’s body.
Step 4: Turn the beetle over and fold the two flaps of the finger piece and gently bend.
Step 5: Affix the finger piece to the back of the ladybug ( White area).
To help secure the finger piece to the ladybug, pop a paint brush or pencil inside to apply pressure on the two affixed flaps.
Once secure, the beetle should now have a good sized finger hole.
Step 6: Fold the two small flaps on the ladybug’s wings, apply glue and affix to the ladybug.
These wings are the ladybugs ‘thin wings’ and should be positioned in such a way that reveals the body underneath. Arty Crafty Kids should be able to gently lift the wings.
Step 7: Gently fold along the dotted line along the outer shell element to create a boxy effect.
Step 8: Fold the outer shell wing flap, apply a layer of glue and affix on top of the ladybug’s thin wings.
The thin wings will stretch just outside of the ladybug’s body with the outer shell wings raised to create a 3D effect.
The Ladybug Finger Puppet Craft is ready to soar into the sky for a bug-sized adventure.

The Benefits of using Finger Puppets as a Learning Tool:
Finger-puppets are an invaluable tool for story-telling and learning, especially for preschoolers. These small, adorable characters that fit snugly on little fingers offer a multitude of benefits.
Firstly, finger-puppets encourage imaginative play, allowing children to bring their stories to life with animated characters. By manipulating the puppets, preschoolers can express their thoughts, emotions, and ideas, enhancing their communication and language skills.
Additionally, finger-puppets promote fine motor development as children manipulate the puppets’ movements, improving dexterity and hand-eye coordination. They also foster social interaction and cooperation, as children can engage in collaborative storytelling or participate in group puppet performances.
Moreover, finger-puppets serve as a gentle introduction to literacy, as children can retell familiar stories or create their own narratives, developing storytelling abilities and sparking an early interest in reading.
With their versatility and charm, finger-puppets truly ignite the imaginations of preschoolers, making learning and story-telling an enchanting and interactive experience.
