Make a Clown Fish Fathers Day Pop Up Card with the kids this father’s day!
A super cute and easy father’s day craft (with a little nod to the father-son relationship captured in Finding Nemo), this 3D pop up card will simply make Daddy’s day!
The printable template for the Clown Fish Pop-Up Card includes a pre-written message – “Dad, I love clowning around with you!” – as well as an option to download a blank version for your kids to add a personal message. This of course also means that the pop-up card can be sent to anyone for any occasion.
As a small side note, for our family, ‘clowning around’ pretty much sums up the relationship between Daddy and the Arty Crafty Kids…hehe!
Members to the Arty Crafty Kids Club may also benefit from the additional ‘under the sea‘ and ‘ocean animal‘ resources, adding extra fish characters and elements to their completed design.

How to make a Clown Fish Fathers Day Pop Up Card:
The Clown Fish template:
Step 1:
Download and print the template from the Arty Crafty Kids members area.
Print the template onto white card stock. Before printing, remember to check your printer settings for a recommended weight. Many printers have a limit of 220 gsm.
Once the template has been printed, colour it in!
In this example, we used coloured pens.
Preparing the Pop Up Card
Step 2:
To give the card an ‘under the sea’ feel, we need to create a sandy bottom and a gorgeous blue sea.
Use a piece of yellow card stock as the base of the pop-up card.
Cut a piece of blue A4 paper in half.
Take one of the halves an cut out a wavy line.
Step 3:
Stick the blue paper to the top of the yellow card stock.
You will now have defined sand and sea areas.
Making the Clown Fish “Pop”
Step 4:
Fold the card in half.
Along the fold, cut one small slit (approx 2-3cm in length)
Step 5:
Cut a second slit (of equal length) about 2cm apart from the first.
Step 6:
Unfold the card and invert the paper between the slits.
Carefully Fold the card to close once the paper has been fully inverted.
Step 7:
Unfold the card to a 90′ angle.
The inverted selection of folded paper should now stand upright and ‘POP’ out from the page.
Create two further (and smaller) paper folds, one either side of the central area.
Let’s add the fish!
Step 8:
Stick the large clown fish to the central fold and add seaweed elements to the remaining folds.
Fold the card to close to ensure the 3D elements fit within the card.
Step 9:
Stick the smaller clown fish directly to the ‘sea’.
Step 10:
Complete the clown fish fathers day pop up card with a bubble message – either download the pre-written template or blank to add your own message!
I hope the Arty Crafty Kids love making their father’s day card!
In the last week, we’ve also made a Daddy Shark a doo doo 3D Father’s day. It’s what some would call quirky, but lots of fun to make and it will certainly make everyone smile!
