Let’s Make a Cat!
Decorate the Bobble Cat Template
First, use paints, pens or crayons to color in the template.
Then carefully cut out all of the different elements from the template – there are quite a few pieces, so take your time.
Finally, tear a few thin strips of colored paper. They don’t have to be perfect, straight or the same length: in fact it’s better if they’re not!
Create a Starry Night Background
Now you have all of the elements prepared, it’s time to start building the scene. Starting at the bottom of the black cardstock, stick on the strips of brick wall.
Leave a little space, and then stick on the torn strips of colored paper. These create a lovely atmosphere and depth for your night sky.
Assemble the Cats Body
With your first layer secure, let’s move on to the second layer. Stick the cat’s body and tail onto the top of the wall, and then the moon and stars onto the sky.
Assemble the Cats Head
Now it’s time to assemble the cat’s head. Start by sticking the ears onto the back of the head, so you don’t see the join on the front. Then stick on the eyes and nose.
Add Detail to the Cats Face
Finally, add some detail to your cat’s face by painting on some whiskers and a friendly smile.
Let’s Make a Paper Spring (Bobble)
Using scissors or a paper cutter, cut two even strips of black card or paper.
To create the right sized strip, cut the paper from the shortest side of an A4 piece of paper – or the longest side of a piece of card – and make the strips at least an inch or so wide.
Take the two strips and position them in a 90° angle, like the corner of a picture frame (as shown above), and glue the connecting papers together.
Fold the bottom strip over the top and crease the fold along the edge. This will make the accordion fold nice and tight!
Continue this process, folding the bottom over the top and creasing, until all the paper has been folded up.
Then seal the ends with glue so your accordion fold doesn’t come undone.
Secure the Spring and Cat’s Head
Stick one end of the folded paper onto your background scene, just above the cat’s body.
Finally, stick the cat’s head onto the other end of the folded paper and give it a good push down so it’s really secure.
The Bobble Black Cat Craft is Complete
Your bobble head cat is complete! Have fun seeing her wiggle and jiggle as she prowls around in the moonlight.
