Step 1: Use a favorite medium to color in the butterfly template.
The butterfly template is an open invitation for children to use their imaginations to creatively color in the pieces that make up the bee.
Our featured bee’s have been colored with water color pens, which are a fantastic coloring medium for children – they’re quick and easy to use (with great pigmentation) which doesn’t cause little hands to ache.
Similar effects can be created with crayons, marker pens, pastels and watercolor paint from a palette.
Step 2: Cut out the bee template elements.
Step 3: Affix the bee’s 6 legs.
The four short legs should be glued to the bee’s second segment, while the hind legs are affixed to the bee’s large body.
Step 4: Turn the bee over and fold the two flaps of the finger piece.
Step 5: Gently bend the finger piece to create a large arch.
Step 5: Affix the finger piece to the back of the bee ( White area).
To help secure the finger piece to the bee, pop a pencil or pair of fingers inside and apply pressure on the two affixed flaps.
Step 6: Fold the two small flaps on the wings and glue to the bee’s fluffy body area.
Step 7: Glue the antenna’s to the bees head to complete the finger puppet!
And now that the bee finger-puppets are complete, these adorable companions can be used in storytelling, puppet shows, or as props for imaginative play.
Let your child’s imagination take flight as they embark on adventures with their newfound buzzing friends.
