Printing Instructions:
Download and print the template from the Arty Crafty Kids members area.
The templates can be downloaded onto good quality paper or card stock.
If you opt for card stock, remember to check your printer settings for a recommended weight. Most printers prefer card stock less than 220gsm.
Let’s make a Werewolf (/Wolf)!
Create an Arty Background
Step 1 – Optional: Using a paintbrush, fingers or items to print with (bubble wrap, paper rolls, lego bricks etc), decorate the backing piece of card stock.
Depending on the craft objectives, Arty Crafty Kids can make a spooky twilight scene for their Halloween werewolf OR present their wolf on a winter backdrop (take a look at our Winter Polar Bear Craft for ideas).
Alternatively, abandon the theme all together and simply experiment with printing materials to make a fun pattern.
Cut out and Trace the Wolf Elements
Step 2: While the backdrops are drying, the Arty Crafty Kids are presented with a choice…
They can either colour in the template OR cut out the elements and trace the individual shapes onto coloured paper.
The first option might be easier for younger children. Older children may also enjoy using paint or a colouring medium to create furry textures for their wolves.
In this example, we’ve used our template on coloured paper.
Start with the Big Round Circle
Step 3: Glue the large circle onto the arty backdrop, leaving enough space above the circle for ears and below the 3D mouth.
Assemble the Eyes
Step 4: If the eyes have been separated as we have above, assemble the eyes.
The whites of the eye could also be coloured in or left white.
Assemble the Mouth
Step 5: Cut around the mouth and teeth provided on the template and glue to the coloured paper.
Position the nose just above the toothy smile.
Let’s make it 3D!
Step 6: Create a small fold to both narrow ends of the oval.
Step 7: Apply a generous amount of the glue to both folds.
Line one fold up with the bottom of the circle (as shown above) and secure.
Step 8: Fold the oval to the other side, again lining the fold with the bottom of the circle and secure.
The mouth should be lifted, creating a cool 3D effect.
Let’s Make the Ears 3D
Step 9: Using left over card stock or paper from the template, cut a small strip of paper.
Step 10: Fold the paper round to create a ring and secure with glue.
Create another ring.
Step 11: Glue the rings to the werewolf’s head and attach the ears on top of the rings.
The paper rings will lift the ears from the page, adding an extra dimension to the craft.
Completing the 3D Paper Wolf Craft
Finish off by securing the eyes and any fancy extras i.e. ribbons or cotton wool to the ears.
