Watch the Step-by-Step Witch Cauldron Art for Halloween Process:
Let’s Make a Bubbly Witch Cauldron!
Cut Out the Elements from the Witch Cauldron Templates and Create Silhouettes
Cut out the cauldron and bubbles from the template and trace the shapes onto one sheet of black card stock.
Use a black marker pen to trace the cauldron.
Black on black might sound a little peculiar, however, a black marker pen on black card stock leaves a nice visible shiny line without reducing the effectiveness of the cauldron silhouette.
Trace the Bubbles with a White Oil Pastel
Next, use a white oil pastel to trace the circular shapes and draw bubbles.
This is where Arty Crafty Kids have the opportunity to get really creative with how they present their bubbles!
Here, we have used the shapes to create a layered mound of bubbles; using the different sized bubbles to create a sense of perspective.
To recreate this effect, draw one complete circle and then a finger or two spaces away, draw another complete circle – it could be the same size as the first or smaller/bigger. Now, fill the space between the circles with incomplete shapes.
Color in the Bubbles with Colorful Oil Pastels
Once the black space above the cauldron is full with bubble shapes, add a small curved triangle shape to each circle to create a “round bubbly” impression and then color in all the bubbles with oil pastels or a favorite medium.
Add a Spider Web or Spooky Illustration to the Witch’s Cauldron
This step is entirely optional, but we liked the idea of drawing a spider web onto our witch’s cauldron. Your Arty Crafty Kids may want to have a go at drawing their own web perhaps with a spider or bats, candy and anything else that might be associated to a Halloween party!
Once all the bubbles are colored in, the Halloween art is really beginning to come together. Next, cut out the cauldron and bubbles.
Glue the Cauldron to a Sheet a of Colorful Card Stock
Purple, orange and black are often colors we see during the Halloween season. The effectiveness of our Halloween art relies on these color contrasts and here we’ve glued the cauldron silhouette to the bottom of a sheet of purple card stock – notice how the cauldron silhouette pops from the backing card?
Color contrast is a very simple way for children to create striking art work. Can you imagine how amazing this witchy cauldron craft in all different colors and bubble shapes would look on a classroom display?
Glue the Bubble on to the Cauldron
Once the cauldron silhouette is in place, start gluing the bubbles on top of the cauldron and fill the surrounding space with single bubbles!
The Witch Cauldron Art for Halloween is Complete
I hope your Arty Crafty Kids thoroughly enjoy creating their very own Witch Cauldron Art for Halloween and if you’re active on social media, please do share their creations and gives us a tag – we would love to see their Witch art!
