Written Step-by-Step Polar Bear Watercolor Painting Tutorial
Step 1: Abstract Line Work
The blank polar bear template is different into a few distinct sections: the head, legs, body and hind legs.
Use a black crayon to draw swirly lines and shapes within each section of the polar bear.
Once each section is full with black swirly lines, draw some secret ‘magic’ lines with a white crayon.
As the crayon works as a resist material, the line will repel the watercolor paint and ‘magically’ reveal itself upon contact.
Step 2: Paint the Polar Bear
Use watercolor paints to color in the polar bear.
Encourage the Arty Crafty to think about their color choices and perhaps suggest Wintry hues such as blue, pink and purple as options within their painting.
Step 3: Add some Splatter Detailing
Soak a paintbrush with watercolor paint and tap it gently against another brush to produce splatter effects around the finished watercolor polar bear painting.
The abstract polar bear painting is complete! I hope your Arty Crafty Kids love recreating this concept at home or within the classroom.
