Meet Jackson Pollock: The Splatter Art Superstar!
Get ready to dive into the world of Jackson Pollock, the artist who revolutionized the art scene in the mid-20th century.
Born in 1912, Pollock struggled with traditional techniques until he discovered his signature “drip and splatter” style, where he energetically poured and flung paint onto canvases laid out on his studio floor.
Pollock’s unconventional approach stunned the art world, propelling him to fame as a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism.
His paintings weren’t just about colors and shapes; they were windows into his emotions and subconscious.

Step-by-Step Splatter Art Heart Cards:
Step 1: Prepare the card.
Fold a piece of black card stock in half and load a paintbrush with white paint.
Step 2: Paint splatter the card.
The paint can be splattered in two ways: first, by simply slinging and thrusting the paintbrush (which can get pretty messy), or by scraping a popsicle stick against the paintbrush to achieve the splatter effect.
Cover the card in paints splats!
Step 3: Paint splatter the hearts.
Next, splatter paint across the heart template.
In contrast to the single splatters on the cards, generously cover the hearts with an array of colors.
As the paint layers, it will build up a wonderful texture, adding to the abstract style reminiscent of Jackson Pollock’s work.
After your creative Arty Crafty Kids finish painting, allow the hearts to dry completely, ideally overnight.
Step 4: Cut out the hearts.
Carefully cut the hearts from the template.
Preschoolers might find the thicker areas of paint a little tricky to cut through.
Step 5: Design the heart card.
Glue the hearts on the card base.
Step 6: Write a personalized message.
Use a white marker pen write and a splatter heart “I [heart] you” or another personal message.
And with the message written, the splatter heart art card is complete and ready to gift to someone special.
