Create some spooky magic with our Picasso Witch Collage Art! Building on our popular Picasso Face Art project, this Halloween-themed activity allows kids to explore cubism in a fun, festive way while crafting their own unique witch portraits.
Children can also use our variety of templates to create their witch portraits, adding eyes, lips, stars, and bats to bring them to life alongside drawing their Picasso Witch face.
This Picasso Witch Collage Art project invites children to experiment with mixed media, combining coloring, drawing, and simple collaging techniques to create the witch faces.
By layering different facial features, they’ll explore perspective in a playful way—using bold angles, mismatched eyes, and exaggerated shapes to create dynamic two-dimensional faces.
For an extra dash of Halloween fun, why not recreate the iconic Sanderson Sisters from the movie Hocus Pocus?
Kids can use our Picasso templates to design each sister’s unique face, emphasizing their distinct features and vibrant personalities. From Winifred’s wild red hair and sharp, expressive eyes to Sarah’s playful grin and Mary’s quirky smile, the possibilities are endless!
Picasso Faces: Key Features
Collaging is the perfect technique for this project because it allows Arty Crafty Kids to layer shapes, patterns, and colors in a way that mirrors Picasso’s famous cubist style.
By piecing together different facial features, children can create dynamic, two-dimensional faces where perspective is shown through contrasting angles and sizes.
Eyes, lips, and noses are deliberately placed at mismatched angles, giving the illusion of movement and depth, while maintaining the flat, abstract nature of cubism.
This approach captures Picasso’s playful experimentation with form, making it a fun and creative way to explore art!

Let’s Create Picasso Witch Face Collages!
Step 1: Divide the face in half and draw a nose shape.
Use a pencil to draw a bold zig-zag line down the center of the face to form an angular nose —take inspiration from the Picasso face elements template to guide the design.
Step 2: Use the Picasso drawing guide to draw extra features.
Next, draw the eyes—channeling the Picasso effect by choosing two different styles. Pick one eye to draw from the guide and collage the other using the template.
This mix of drawing and collaging enhances the abstract look, with each eye offering its own shape and expression.
Step 3: Color in the Picasso Witch face.
Use your favorite medium to color in the witch’s face, making each segment pop with a different color.
In our example, we used paint, which we love for its bold, vibrant pigments.
Painting also gives kids the perfect opportunity to practice hand coordination as they handle a brush, adding both creativity and skill-building to the process!
Step 4: Color in the additional features template.
While the face dries, take some time to color in the additional features like stars, bats, the moon, lips, and eyes.
Step 5: Color a witch’s hat.
Just like the witch’s face, divide the hat into different segments to create visual interest and enhance the cubist effect.
Each section can be painted a unique color, adding bold contrast and making the hat a striking, abstract part of your Picasso-inspired witch!
Step 6: Color in the witch’s hair template.
Use a variety of colors to complete the witch’s hair.
Step 7: Outline the witch’s facial features.
Once the witch’s face is dry, grab a black marker pen to carefully outline the facial features.
This not only adds definition but also emphasizes the mismatched, asymmetrical elements of the design, giving your Arty Crafty Kids witch that distinct Picasso-inspired look with bold, eye-catching contrasts!
Step 8: Use the templates to collage extra features.
Cut out the facial elements from the template and paste them onto the witch’s face. For example, use a collaged eye and mouth.
Step 9: Use a black marker pen to add lashes and eyebrows.
Use a black marker pen to add final details to the witch’s face, such as eyebrows and lashes.
Once complete, cut out the witch’s face and hat.
Step 10: Cut the hair template into smaller segments.
The strands can be cut out individually or in small clumps.
Step 11: Arrange the hair pieces around the witch’s face.
Next, use a piece of colored cardstock for backing and begin experimenting with the layout of the witch’s face, hat, and hair.
Layer the hair pieces in front and behind the witch’s face.
Step 12: Glue the hair and the witch’s face in place.
Once your Arty Crafty Kids are satisfied with the placement, glue the face and hair in place. For an extra touch of fun, why not add some bats to the witch’s hair?
Step 13: Glue the witch’s hat and additional elements in place.
After securing the hair and face, glue the hat and moon in place.
Enhance your collage by adding extra features, like eyes and lips to the moon, and scattering stars onto the hat.
Step 14: Draw a collection of stars with a white marker pen.
As an optional extra, use a white marker pen to draw little white stars onto the background.
