Let’s Make a Shark!
Step 1: Choose your favorite coloring medium and use it to bring the shark to life with vibrant colors.
As the children start their coloring, encourage them to think outside the box and use a wide range of colors beyond the traditional grey. They can get imaginative by using vibrant blues, greens, or even unexpected color combinations to give their shark a unique and eye-catching appearance.
They may also enjoy adding patterns and textures to the design: Children can use their creativity to add patterns and textures to the shark’s body. They can experiment with techniques like cross-hatching, stippling, or even creating scales or patterns inspired by other marine creatures. This will give their shark a distinctive and dynamic look.
Step 2: Once the shark is beautifully colored, cut out all the template elements!
Step 3: Begin by working with the two circular pieces—the shark’s body and mouth. Apply a generous layer of glue to the corresponding white areas of each piece.
Step 4: Carefully align the two circular pieces and firmly press them together, ensuring they are securely glued in place.
Step 5: Next, fold the shark in half along the solid black line, making sure to position the eyes on the top side.
Step 6: Fold all the flaps on the shark’s teeth, then generously apply glue to them. Carefully affix the folded flaps inside the shark’s mouth, creating a fabulous toothy grin that will bring the shark to life.
Step 7: Attach the shark’s dorsal fin securely to the top of its body, completing the distinctive and iconic feature of this magnificent creature.
Step 8: Now, carefully attach the pectoral fins to each side of the shark’s body, ensuring they are securely in place.
These fins will add a touch of realism and give your shark its characteristic appearance.
Step 9: Complete the craft by attaching the caudal fin (the shark’s tail) to the underside area of the shark’s body.
Now that the shark craft is complete, it’s time for some interactive play!
Little ones can glide their shark through the air, simulating its graceful swimming motion. Watch as they mimic the movements of a real shark, diving and soaring through the imaginary waves.
They can create their own underwater scenarios, exploring the depths of the ocean or even reenacting thrilling scenes from their favorite shark-themed movies or books.
But that’s not all—prepare for some surprising moments!
With its mouth cleverly designed to open and close, this craft doubles as a puppet. Your children can use their shark craft to give their friends, siblings, or even you a toothy surprise.
