Wowee where do I begin? These adorable Owl Finger Puppets have gone down a storm in my owl mad household.
For one, they’re NO-SEW, which makes them incredibly easy to make and can be put together within minutes – perfect for people like me who are less inclined to sew.
They have entertained my kids for HOURS.
Inspiring some incredible made-up stories, with my preschooler happily chatting to and making up voices for her finger puppets.
She has adapted nursery rhymes to include her little “owly Owls” and sung the revised versions to her baby brother. THIS, I can tell you, made me all mushy inside!
Before I go into full gush mode, I had no idea that my kids would love these owl finger puppets as much as they do.
And the more they play, the more potential I see.
For example, they could become fun gifts for kids alongside a relatable picture book. They may also help a reluctant child engage with a book on a different level or simply encourage some good Ol’ fashioned imaginative play.
Sound good? Here’s what you need…
MATERIALS: No-Sew Felt Owl Finger Puppets
This Post contains affiliates
Felt (US Link / UK Link)
Hot Glue Gun (US Link / UK Link)
Buttons
Sharp Pair of Scissors
A Word of Caution: Hot Glue Guns are amazing, however they do get very hot!
Let’s Make It
Using a sharp pair of scissors cut the felt to create a body, wings and eyes.
Using the hot glue gun (US Link / UK Link), glue along the dotted line of owl 1, leaving a finger gap.
Place owl 2 on top and press down firmly.
Add the felt wings, eyes, beak and buttons.
We included the buttons to add an alternative texture and pattern. You could swap the buttons for patterned paper or fabric.
The best thing about hot glue, is that dries really quickly and is very strong! So within no time my little lady was able to start playing with her owl finger puppets.
If you don’t have a hot glue gun (US Link / UK Link) to hand, you could try this craft with another strong adhesive or adapt it into an sewing project for kids by using a simple running stitch.
